Most solar powered devices are coupled with bulky design, many cables and big batteries; it has yet to be anything that people could classify as attractive, until now. Andrea Ponti, an Industrial Designer that focus his research on international projects between Italy and Japan has designed the first integrated solar power laptop with a sexy appeal.
The polycarbonate-bound laptop features a feather light form factor. Two photovoltaic panels span the computer’s cover and keyboard. The sexy clear design allows sunlight to shine straight through the case to the panels embedded within, generating electricity for on-the-go computing.
Since laptop are so easily portable it’s nice to see a design like this come out, even though it isn’t market ready it’s a step in the right direction with increasing electricity prices. There aren’t any specs available as this is just a design but it would be interesting to see what this sucker could run with power consumption in mind.
