As the world waits for Apple to release the iPhone 5, Reuters reported that an 8GB iPhone refresh is on it’s way; most likely the easiest way to be rid of the stockpile of iPhone 4 parts much like what they did with the 8GB iPhone 3GS refresh. According to two anonymous sources “with knowledge of the matter,” an unnamed Korean manufacturer has already begun producing parts for a cheaper, 8GB version of the smartphone, slated to launch within the next few weeks.

Although Sony’s Playstation Network (PSN) is back up around the world running on new secure firmware (see story here) Japan is still yet to allow any ISP connection to Sony’s servers until Japan is assured it is safe.
The Dow Jones newshounds reported the Japanese government refused to allow Sony to reactivate PSN in Japan until satisfaction is reached on a several issues.
Sony is currently in talks with authorities in Japan to get things back up and running.
