Hacker Marvin Bernal discovered and shared a hack on Twitter to allow users to use Facebook for iPad. TechCrunch confirmed with a source who had previously seen the app that it is the iPad app that the company plans on launching.
The app has full access to the Facebook API, integrated  Facebook Chat and  video chat is on it’s way!
Check out the screen shots below (click to enlarge photos).

1 - Jailbreak your iPad
If you are already jailbroken great if not follow the instructions below for your version of iOS.

Note: 4.3.4, 4.3.5 and iOS Beta 5 is currently not fully supported and the method below requires iOS 4 and above.

2 – Install OpenSSH in Cydia
Next, you need to install OpenSSH – a Cydia package. Search for “OpenSSH” in Cydia, and download and install the package.

3 - Install Fugu, and get connected
Download Fugu here and install. Ensure that both your iPad and computer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Once the software has downloaded and installed, launch Fugu on your computer.

4 – Enter your iPad’s I.P. address, and log-in information
In Fugu, enter your iPad’s I.P. address (in the “Connect to” text field – you can find this via a Google Search in Safari for iOS), along with a username (which will be “root”). Now, hit “Connect” and then enter your root password, which – unless you’ve changed it – will be “alpine.”

5 – Go to var/mobile/Applications
Hit “Go To” in the toolbar section of Fugu, and enter “var/mobile/Applications.” Ensure that you’ve selected “Remotely,” and then hit “Go.”

6 – Find the Facebook iPhone app
Next, a list of applications will be shown. It’s a little difficult to figure out which is which, however the “date modified” can help. If Facebook was the last app you transferred over to your iPad, it’ll be the most recently modified. To confirm this, double-click the folder and within it, you’ll find another folder displaying the application’s name (“Facebook.app”).

7 – Modify the Facebook.app
Once you’ve managed to locate the Facebook.app, open the “Facebook.app” folder and and drag open the “Info.plist” file. Here, find “UIDeviceFamily” and change the number alongside it from “one” to “two.”

8 – That’s it, you’re done!
In changing the aforementioned value to a “two,” you’ve switched the Facebook iPhone app over to the native Facebook for iPad application. If you have any questions, feel free to post them in the comments.

Build 9a5259f AKA iOS 5 Beta 3 was released to developers today which is the newest iOS version for iPad, iPhone and iPod and brings a few changes and fixes to the table.
  • Push and local notifications for apps appear in the new Notification Center in iOS 5. Notification Center displays notifications that are considered “unread”. In order to accommodate push and local notifications that have no “unread” status, developers can use their application badge count to trigger a clearing of notifications from Notification Center. When an application clears its badge count (by setting it to zero), iOS 5 will clear its notifications from Notification Center.
  • iMessage beta 3 will be unable to communicate with iMessage users on beta 1. It works between beta 3 and beta 2
  • Modal alerts don’t appear for iMessages.
  • When tweeting your location from Safari and exiting before the location can be established, the location arrow will stay in the status bar. The arrow can be removed by killing Safari from the task switcher.
  • Fixed: The Reminders application does not send notifications for reminders that are based upon the entry (and/or exit) of a location if there is no date associated with the reminder.
  • In this beta the option of “Choosing a security question” is not working during an iCloud account setup.
  • Fixed: After creating a recurring event locally on the device, the device stops syncing after hitting an error on merge. Removing and re-adding the account acts as a workaround for this.
  • Restoring from a Seed 1 backup or earlier will cause MobileMe/iCloud calendars not to sync. Subscribed calendars will show up in Calendars but none of your event calendars will appear in MobileCal. To work around the problem please remove and re-add the account.
