HTC launches the Status with a dedicated Facebook button! The Status is the North American version of the ChaCha which is available in Europe.

One touch to share on Facebook®
You know those priceless moments with your friends on Facebook—that quick pic, inside joke, or perfectly timed post? The HTC Status™ has a Facebook share button that makes those moments happen more often, keeping you at the center of your social circle. One second you’re sharing, the next second your friends are commenting.

Lock screen shortcuts
Instead of a barrier, the HTC shortcut lock screen just became a launch pad to what you want to do now! Open your favorite apps by just dragging their shortcut icons into the lock screen ring.

See what’s happening before you pick up
Every time you get or make a call, you see your friend’s profile pic and latest status update right on the call screen. If it’s their birthday that week, you’ll see that, too.

Special effects for photos and videos
Anyone can be an artist. Use camera effects to make your photos and videos look like they’ve been taken through special lenses and filters—like Sepia for an old-fashioned look, or Aqua for a touch of cool. Apply effects right in the viewfinder, or apply them afterwards in the Gallery.

Front and back cameras
Take a spontaneous self-portrait or a quick cheek-to-cheek pic with your best pal on the VGA front-facing camera—or just double-check your hair with the Mirror app. With the 5.0 MP main camera, you can capture every moment, with pics or high-quality video.

Tablet phones making a comeback? Apparently! Joining the eccentric Dell Streak 5 is Pantech’s conveniently named Vega No.5 (or IM-T100K). There is no word yet when this phone will be available internationally.

Specs

  • 5-inch 800 x 480 LCD
  • Android 2.3.3
  • Qualcomm’s dual-core 1.5GHz MSM8660
  • 8 megapixel 1080p camera, front-facing camera
  • 1GB DDR2 RAM
  • 16GB of memory
  •  802.11 b/g/n WiFi
  • and 14.4Mbps HSPA+ connectivity
In my opionion this phone is WAY TOO BIG but who knows as testers seemed to love it. I have an issue with using something of this size as a phone. Imagine using your Blackberry Playbook as your mobile phone? Umm no…bit hard.
Check out the video to see for yourself.

This is a question which runs thought lots of peoples minds when purchasing their first or next Android powered phone and I have had some inquiries so here we go; HTC Desire HD vs Google Nexus S – The Showdown!

Similarities

To be honest, both these phones are incredibly amazing. They have all the features you can find in a mobile phone currently and either would be a great choice. It really comes down to personal preference. On the exterior the Desire HD has a larger screen however the Nexus S has a Super Amoled vs a Amoled giving the Nexus S a more vibrant picture. Both phones feature a 1000 MHz Samsung Hummingbird Cortex A8 processor. Although the Desire HD has an addition 256MB of ram it is eaten up by the feature rich HTC Sense environment therefore both phones run at par memory-wise. The only added feature to the Nexus S is the emerging NFC (Near Field Communication) technology. So here is the breakdown comparison.

For a more in-depth individual look at each device please visit our posts HTC Desire HD and Google Nexus S

Pro Desire HD Features

  • Build materials (metalic vs Nexus S plastic)
  • Camera 8.0MP vs Nexus S 5MP
  • Larger Display (great for gaming, videos, etc)
  • HSDPA+ vs slower HSPA 7.2 (quite similar in speed however; very little difference)
  • More Ram 768MB vs 512MB
  • HTC Sense (HTC’s software integration service linking social media with your contacts – more or less a user driven social media interface)
  • SRS Sound – amazing sound quality

Pro Nexus S Features

  • Super Amoled Screen vs Amoled (Nexus S display is more vivid and vibrant – better picture quality)
  • Direct updates (it’s currently Google’s flagship phone so it will receive updates before any other Android phone)
  • better battery life (~10% longer battery life as the battery is a bit larger)
  • NFC (Near Field Communication)
  • Front facing camera for video chat (Google Talk, etc)
As you can see both are GREAT choices and it really comes down to personal preference as to what features you really deem valuable.
